About ATL BASHH
#BASHH – famous for making your social media friends your IRL friends – is all about meeting the people behind the avatar.
It doesn’t matter if you are on Twitter or Facebook, there’s a little social media addict in all of us. So let’s get the social in the ATL social media scene! We’re casting off the stigma and showing the benefits of taking relationships offline. The goal is simply to connect people.
Plus, at each event you can get a rad new profile pic in the free photo booth!
The event started as a ten-person barbecue in Austin and has since blossomed into one of the biggest events in the city, attracting people from all over the nation during the South by Southwest Interactive Festival.
“No single person owns BASHH; it belongs to the city,” Lani Rosales, Austin BASHH’s original organizer, said.
Austin’s BASHH culture brings together social and tech geeks, small business owners, entrepreneurs, local media and public relations pros as well as the casual social media user.
What will the culture of Atlanta’s BASHH be? Come find out with the rest of us!

Meet The Organizers
Through constant email, Facebook and Twitter communication, along with occasional in-person base-touching, these three people are working to bring a different sort of social experience to Atlanta:
A fourth-generation Atlantan, Jared is also a consummate brand geek with a passion for consumer insights and engagement strategies. A podcaster and blogger since 2005, Jared has been deep into the social media scene including bringing the spirit of collaboration of #GeekBreakfast to Washington, DC and Atlanta.
Currently, Jared is the Manager of Social and Digital Media at Brandware Public Relations, a full-service boutique agency specializing in media relations and communications for enthusiast brands, products and services based right here in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jared has an MBA in Marketing and Strategy with a focus in Social/Digital Media from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management and a BBA in Marketing & Hospitality Management from The George Washington University.
A new ATLian from Austin, Texas, Anna Gonzalez is hoping to bring some of the collaborative Austin spirit to Atlanta.
Bringing people together and making connections is easier with technology, so it could be the hippie in Anna, aka WebAnna, that draws her attention to social media. A native Texan, her interests in new media have earned her a spot as a speaker at multiple conferences. Her work in print, television and online media, along with her experiments in helping television stations reach audiences online, have brought her to Atlanta to work at a world-wide news organization. She and her husband blog about art, life and digital adventures on the Everzalez blog (a combo of their last names).
Also recently relocated from Austin, John Peltier has spent a combined 18+ years in Atlanta.
John is an agile product manager by day who actively contributes to the social media scene in Metro Atlanta. John spent his formative years in the cultural melting pot of New Orleans, and later years in the startup and technology hotbed of Austin, Texas, watching communities grow organically and virtually. John brought fond memories of #BASHH from Austin upon his return, and was happy to discover others with interest in bringing disjointed communities together in the ATL via #ATLBASHH.
John is also a social media marketer who serves as Marketing Lead on the organizing committee of ProductCamp Atlanta, and as Marketing Director for his wife’s startup Crêperie, Crêpe Cottage, which appears at the Alpharetta Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings.
John earned a M.S. in Information Systems, and his undergraduate Management degree, from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He can be found on Twitter at @johnpeltier.
